Widgets and Gadgets: From E-learning to M-learning and Beyond
Emerging technologies have allowed online learning to add interactive tools to courses. New web, media and mobile applications or widgets, and new devices or gadgets, bring innovative resources to the hands of students. Education is moving from e-learning to m-learning and beyond as hybrid methods are also being incorporated to both on-land and online courses. Our Web Media Lab (www.webmedialab.org) has been testing these widgets and gadgets applying both Technology Acceptance and Affordability Models to explore real usability beyond courses into real life. Wireless and mobile technologies allow users to be in a virtual office all the time.(ID #145/Track 2)

Social Media in Online Courses – Introduction

Bookmark and Share

Sep 2010. I started to test Facebook for Websites. The Facebook Platform enables you to make your website more personalized and social. You can mix and match Facebook’s APIs. This is a test.

Social plugins are the easiest way to get started with Facebook Platform. The plugins are embeddable social features that can be integrated in your site with a line of HTML. Because they are hosted by Facebook, the plugins are personalized for all users who are logged into Facebook — even if the users haven’t yet signed up for your site.

The most important social plugin is the Like button, which enables users to post pages from your site back to their Facebook profile with one click. It does not work in Posts.

Twitter in Online Education

twitter_logo_header.pngLast summer we started to test Twitter as a tool for online education. We follow current events using several news sources and we will incorporate them to our discussion boards. Follow DrLepervanche if you want to read my Tweets or read the feed in the sidebar of this blog.

Social Networks such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and others have been using for different purposes. Sharing the news from Iran is one of the recent ones that motivated me to open this resource to our courses. For example, here is one of my posts in twitter: “Twitter revolution in Iran. Search and see news getting out using cell phones, blogs, and Twitter. http://tinyurl.com/cyberchronicles“. You can read here my first Tweets:
